THE HISTORY BEHIND SOME FAMOUS PICASSO PAINTINGS

Le Petit Picador Jaune (The Little Yellow Picador) is a very early Picasso work, painted while he was only eight years old. The painting depicts a scene from a bullfight.

VERY EARLY YEARS

The Blue Room is considered to be an early example of Picasso’s Blue Period. In 1900, he moved to Paris and was inspired by the Impressionists and Post-Impressionists.

THE BLUE PERIOD

While he is well-known for his innovative and striking images from the Cubist and Surrealist periods, these earlier Picasso drawings demonstrate that Picasso was also capable of creating classical, beautiful artwork.

EARLY PICASSO WORKS

Picasso used strong lines and geometric shapes to define facial features and clothing. The artist has also used areas of negative space to create visual balance.
