WHAT IS REALISM IN ART?

The Realism art movement began in France in the 19th century. During this time, the country was in a state of political unrest.

ORIGINS

The conditions for common people in Britain were just as dire as in France. Many creatives were influenced by the hardship surrounding them. 

REALISM ART IN BRITAIN

The Realism art movement became popular in Russia around 1860. In 1863, a group of Realism artists came together as the Peredvizhniki.
